A continental lacquered cabinet with arched
doors enclosing an interior of shelves and drawers, and below this
four, shaped front drawers. The Chinoiserie lacquer on the exterior
is executed in gold and silver on a red faux tortoise ground with
pavilions, trees, birds and figures in a landscape. The lacquer of
the interior is executed in tones of gold on red ground with plants
and flowers.
Circa 1720, the original model to this piece
is in the Collection of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Getty, San Francisco.
