This George II black and gilt armchair is a replica
of an open armchair that was part of a suite of japanned furniture
made for the bedroom at Badminton House, Gloucestershire, in 1752-54.
The
bedroom suite to which these chairs belonged is in the Victoria and
Albert Museum, London. The original pair of chairs is in the Collection
of Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Getty, San Francisco.
